Detailed update on the release of the Elgato Prompter Mod Kit!

Over the past couple of months, I've been working with a closed group of beta testers who have had these kits to test with their prompter. Some of the parts have gone through major revisions, I deleted one, added another, and more. I've been testing filaments, colors, infills, screws, tolerances, EVERYTHING. To try and make this as polished as possible. As of now, I'm done will all revisions and I'm just waiting to get final feedback from all my testers. The latest revision of the full kit is really awesome, better than before.

So how is this going to go down?

Right now, I'd say I'm about 1-1.5 months away from having some kits to sell. But I also have time blindness. So it could be more. Learning about pricing, inventory, lead times, costs, shipping, customs, and everything else that goes along with this has been kind of insane. But all really fun to learn. As of now, there are going to be 4 kits available, and 3 of the parts purchasable standalone. Depending on how you use your prompter, 1 kit might suit your better than another. One kit is going to come with a bunch of extras that suits if you bounce between a bunch of different camera bodies, while a smaller kit just has a few parts that does what it does. So I'm leaving the choice up to you. There is going to be a youtube video and knowledge base leading up to the release of this so you can know what kit is for you going in. There will also be a few project vlogs about this very kit leading up to that! The first "early bird" release will be a collector's edition of the full kit that comes with an additional surprise, and this will also help me gauge how much interest there is in these kits. Then after that, the 3 main kits will be standard and available always.

How many kits will be available?

While I'm going to have a good portion of kits pre-printed ready to go, I don't want to over print. At the same time, I'm one guy with 1 printer, and a full kit takes about 7 hours start to finish. I'm going to have to play this by ear. And if buying a 2nd printer to double prod time is viable, I'll do it. I've getting a store setup on Fourthwall, which allows me to set limited qualities so I can keep up with demand and such.

What's next?

The next update for this project will be announcing sign ups for the first found of kits, the store going live, a timeline, and more. I really, REALLY want that ready to go by the time July is done.

Where can we keep tabs on the project?

Right now, everything 3D printing, DIY, and project and being posted on socials dedicated to my side project, Nack Habitat. There is a Tiktok, Youtube, and Instagram where I'll be posting the most updates. Major updates will be echoed here on X as well. I haven't decided if I want to open the floodgates of a Discord yet. Maybe just a dedicated category in my existing Discord. Anyways, links:

Will the STL files be uploaded so I can print myself?

I don't have any plans to do this at this very second. This is all very, very new. I'm getting a feel for what's what, and while I love the open-source vibe of 3D printing, IP theft and design stealing is so rampant in the community, and once the files are out there, you can't really reel them back in. There are so many designs that I plan to release to the wild, just don't know if this will be one of them. Or, I might wait a bit, and then uploaded after a while. We'll see.

That's all I got for you right now! Crazy journey so far. thanks for following along.
