Overview

The "Thumboney" was created to add thumb screw-ness to knurled 1/4"-20 screws that are commonly found on DSLR/Mirrorless Camera rigs. You can use these screws to secure a lot of different camera and lighting equipment to whatever.

This part was designed to be used with an upcoming project, the Elgato Prompter Mod Kit, as a way to use a 15mm 1/4" screw, but keep the build low profile by using this thumb-screw adapter to tighten and loosen. While this part will be sold with the whole kit, I wanted to upload it in case anyone else wanted to print it for themselves.

Required Parts

Below are some parts that you are required to have to make this guide work.

I have used three different screws with the Thumboney. The first I purchased were screws that came in a Neewer screw variety pack. Unfortunately, these screws have the deepest slot which meant it had a better fit, but you can’t buy those screws on their own. I found two different versions of screws from Aliexpress that were much cheaper, but the slot is more shallow and they take about 2 weeks to ship to you. While the current version of the Thumboney is designed for the AliExpress versions, it will still work for the Neewer version. It just doesn’t fit as good. (Affiliate links below)
